How to Install and Update a WordPress Plugin from a ZIP File

Bought a premium plugin and got a ZIP file? Here is the quickest way to install it, and how to update it later without losing your settings.

Install a plugin

1. Download the ZIP from My Account → Downloads.
2. In WordPress go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin.
3. Choose the ZIP and click Install Now, then Activate.

Update to a new version

When you see an Update available badge in your downloads, download the new ZIP and upload it the same way. WordPress will ask to replace the current version. Click Replace current with uploaded. Your settings stay safe.
